أصبح التعليم والتدريب التقنيّ والمهنيّ (TVET) ضمن أولويّات اهتمامات الحكومات العربيّة. مع تحقيق التطوّر الاقتصاديّ في العالم العربيّ، هناك حاجةٌ متزايدةٌ لبناء قوى عاملة شابّة تتمتّع بمهارات تلبّي متطلّبات القطاعات المختلفة. تعتبر برامج التعليم والتدريب التقنيّ والمهنيّ ضرورةً لتوفير المهارات اللّازمة للقوى العاملة المتنامية في المنطقة.

عقدت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (اليونسكو) أوّل اجتماعٍ عالميٍّ لوزراء التربية والتعليم استجابةً للتطوّر السريع لأدوات الذكاء الاصطناعيّ التوليديّة الجديدة. حضر الاجتماع الذي عُقد في 25 أيار/ مايو 2023 أكثر من 40 وزيرًا من جميع أنحاء العالم لمناقشة الفرص والتحديّات والمخاطر الفوريّة والبعيدة المدى التي تفرضها تطبيقات الذكاء الاصطناعيّ على أنظمة التعليم. ناقش الوزراء كيفيّة طرح سياسات وخطط حول أفضل السبل لدمج أدوات الذكاء الاصطناعي في التعليم. قدّمت اليونسكو خارطة طريق جديدة لرسم مسار رقميّ أكثر أمانًا للجميع.

أطلق مكتب اليونسكو الإقليميّ متعدّد القطاعات للدول العربيّة - بيروت ومؤسّسة الفكر العربيّ (ATF) "مرجع ممارسات التعليم والتعلّم الواعدة" الذي يشكّل أداةً أساسيّةً لنشر وتبادل أفضل الممارسات بين المعلمين والمؤسسات التعليمية وصنّاع السياسات في المنطقة. يتميّز هذا مرجع ممارسات التعليم والتعلّم الواعدة بأنّه موردٌ متوفّرٌعبر الإنترنت يساهم في تحفيز المعلّمين للوصول إلى أبرز الخبرات والممارسات في مجالَي التعليم والتعلّم، كما وأنّه يسلّط الضّوء على أمثلةٍ تتعلّق بدور المعلّمين في التحوّل الرقميّ، فضلًا عن دورها في تعزيز تخضير التعليم، وفي تطوير المهارات الأساسيّة والكفايات الخاصّة بالمتعلّمين لتمكينهم من مواجهة تحديّات القرن الحادي والعشرين.

أدّى فريق من منظّمة اليونسكو زيارة عمل إلى مدينة صنعاء حيث تنكبُّ المنظّمة على الحفاظ على التراث الثقافي المتفرّد للبلاد وصونه، فضلًا عن بذلها كلّ الجهود الممكنة لبناء قدرات المجتمعات المحليّة المتضرّرة من النزاع طويل الأمد - بما في ذلك من خلال توفير فرص العمل ذات الصلة بمعالم التراث الثقافي لـعدد 14000 من شباب وشابّات اليمن بين عامي 2018 و2026.

A new report, "Enabling Success: Supporting Youth in MENA in their Transition from Learning to Decent Work," has been published by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the European Training Foundation (ETF). The report calls on countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to invest in education and modernize training systems for youth.

Jordan's Minister of Education, Mr. Azmi Mahafzah, launched a new strategy to help the country's education sector better respond to crises. The Crisis and Risk Management Strategy (2023-2027) aims to ensure that Jordan's education system continues to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all learners and continuity of quality education even in the face of challenges such as natural disasters, conflict, or pandemics. The strategy was developed with the support of UNESCO and its International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP). It identifies key system-wide strategic actions that can be taken to help education actors, including schools and learners, develop a localized and decentralized approach to crisis and risk management.

On June 17, 2022, representatives from over 140 countries adopted the Marrakech Framework for Action at the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education. The framework outlines a plan for how to achieve the right to lifelong learning for all adults. Countries that have adopted the framework have committed to increasing adult participation in learning and investing in adult learning and education. The conference was hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco and UNESCO and was attended by over 1,000 participants, including heads of state, education ministers, and high-level representatives of the United Nations.

As a result of the worst shock to education and learning in recorded history caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, learning poverty has increased by a third in low- and middle-income countries, with an estimated 70% of 10-year-olds unable to understand a simple written text, according to a report published by the World Bank, which details the factors affecting Arabic language learning, and proposes a pathway to guide countries in the region in their efforts to enhance learning outcomes.

A team from UNESCO visited Sana'a, Yemen, where the organization is actively involved in preserving the country's unique cultural heritage and building the resilience of local communities affected by the ongoing conflict. This includes providing heritage job opportunities to 14,000 young Yemenis between 2018 and 2026.
